Austrian Mountaintops

Something about the mountains is wonderfully breathtaking. There's nothing like spending a few wonderful days in the Austrian Alps to help you truly appreciate this fact.

Although it's nearly impossible to capture the actual magic of these massive mountains, I've attempted to give the best views from a recent trip to Sölden some justice.

The only ones dressed in jeans/skirts, we took the ski lift to the tip top of the Gaislachkogls where the snow was a plenty and an impressive gourmet restaurant, the ice Q, sits. Fun fact = ice Q was the shooting location for the most recent Bond film, Spectre.

Sölden is a popular winter sports destination and there were skiers everywhere. It was my first time at such a place and I was surprised not only by how many skiers were there, but also by how dangerous it looks. I don't know who had the idea to strap two sticks on your feet and slide down a mountain but it seems questionable to me.

After eating a fancy lunch, taking all the photos and staring in awe at the brave souls hurling themselves down the glacier, we hopped back on the cable line and headed down.

All in all it was a gorgeous trip and a well spent afternoon. Now if I could only muster up the courage to take a ski course, I might drag my husband back there one day.
